CREATIVE PROJECTS

“Creativity itself doesn’t care at all about results – the only thing it craves is the process.”

her.

I got inspired for this short film when I heard about Rode's short film competition. It involved having to make a short film between 1-3 minutes and the use of Rode's products (microphones) in the filming process. I heard about it 4 days before the cut off date so I started planning. My friend Elsie was super keen to help me out and be the subject of the film.

I had actually written the dialogue you hear in the film long before the filming process and found it in my 'notes'. I already had a vision for it and could finally bring it to life. My friend Erwan, a beautiful French man had the perfect earthy voice I wanted and was more than happy for me to record him reading out the script. We smashed it out in 4 days and here is the result

her. Behind The Scenes

The behind the scenes process for filming 'her'. This was required to enter the competition as proof that you used their products during the filming process. Thank you to my good friend and filmmaking buddy Andy @loveconnell.films for filming most of the behind the scenes. Some early mornings involved me placing the camera on a rock and hoping we were in the frame.

SUNFLOWER FIELD

There's not much to explain about this one except that I had a creative friend with me and we were in an amazing sunflower field. I told him the shots I wanted him to get and this was the edit.

Credits to @wandering_eddie for filming and @sunflowersoftimmering for giving us free range of their amazing fields.

MY INSTRUMENT

This was also a film I entered into a competition and it was also filmed and edited within 4 days. Although I found out about it a few weeks before the due date, nothing came to me for inspiration. The criteria was to make a short film (less than one minute) about 'creativity'. Whatever you wanted it to be. I sat at my piano in frustration that I couldn't think of anything and this idea conjured itself in my brain. The craziest thing is I won the competition and won a DJI Drone! It was world wide and the day I found out I won I had to show a few people to see if I was reading it correct.
